The Capurize extension
Data the extension handles
- Screenshots and imported files. Images of pages you capture, and images or PDFs you open in the Studio. Stored in the extension’s local database (IndexedDB) on your device.
- Page title and address. When you capture a page, its title and URL are saved with the project and used for file names. Stored locally with the project.
- Projects and edits. Annotations, crops, watermarks and a small thumbnail for the projects list. Stored locally.
- Settings. Options such as image format, file-name pattern and capture delay. Stored with Chrome’s extension storage; if you have turned on Chrome Sync, Google syncs these settings between your signed-in browsers. They contain no screenshots or browsing data.
- Editor preferences. Your last-used tool styles and export settings, and, if you use the Email share option, the last recipient address and email service you chose so the form can be prefilled. Stored locally.
When data leaves your device
Only when you choose an action that sends it somewhere:
- Downloads save files to your computer’s Downloads folder.
- Copy places an image on your system clipboard, where other apps can read it.
- Email and WhatsApp hand-offs open Gmail, Outlook, your mail app or WhatsApp Web in a new tab, with the recipient, subject and message you typed included in the link. The screenshot itself is downloaded or copied for you to attach; it is not uploaded by Capurize. Those services’ own privacy policies then apply.
- System share passes the file to the app you pick in your operating system’s share sheet.
Permissions and why they are needed
activeTab: capture the tab you are on, only after you click the Capurize button or shortcut.scripting: run a small script in that tab during a capture to scroll it and show the selection overlay.storageandunlimitedStorage: keep your settings and projects on your device; full-page captures can be large.downloads: save exported files when you click Download.
Capurize does not read your browsing history and cannot see tabs you have not captured.
Retention and deletion
Projects stay on your device until you delete them from the Studio home screen. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes all of its stored data. Clearing your browser’s site data for extensions also removes it.
This website
capurize.com is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical request data (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and keeps server logs for a limited period under its own privacy policy. We do not set cookies, run analytics or load third-party scripts on this site. Fonts are served from this site, not from a font service.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and to improve Capurize, and delete support conversations when they are no longer needed. Please don’t send screenshots that contain private information.
Future paid plans
Capurize may later offer a paid Pro plan with sign-in. Accounts and payments would require processing some personal data (for example your email address and subscription status, with card payments handled by a payment provider). We will update this policy before any such feature goes live and explain what changes.
Children
Capurize is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
